Each season, the Grandview Steelers welcome talented young hockey players from across Canada and beyond. As these athletes chase their goals on the ice, they need more than a team — they need a supportive place to live. That’s where billet families come in.
By joining our billet program, you provide more than a room — you become a trusted part of a young athlete’s journey. A warm, stable home helps players adjust to life in a new city, manage the demands of school and hockey, and grow both personally and professionally.
Why Be a Billet?
Hosting a player is a chance to support the future of the game and to build a rewarding, meaningful connection. Many billets form lifelong friendships with their players, watching them grow both on and off the ice.
Billeting does take commitment — patience, open-mindedness, and a willingness to share your home and routines. But the rewards are unforgettable.
What’s Expected of Billet Families?
Billet families are asked to provide:
- A private bedroom with storage and access to bathroom facilities
- Nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day
- A welcoming, respectful environment that makes players feel at home
- Basic structure and support to help players stay on track with team expectations and personal responsibilities
What You’ll Receive:
- A monthly stipend to assist with food and living costs
- Two season tickets per player to all Grandview Steelers home games
- Invitations to exclusive team events, including the year-end celebration
- A behind-the-scenes connection to junior hockey and the Steelers community
Hosting Timeline
Players typically arrive between mid-August and early September, aligning with school registration and pre-season training. Billet stays usually extend through the season, ending in March, with possible extension into April or May during playoffs.
Please note: Players attending ID Camp are responsible for arranging their own accommodations.
