The Burnaby Steelers are pleased to announce the signing of 2008-born forward Haldan Freer.
The native of Maple Ridge, BC, is set to play his first full-season with the organization after being an affiliate player last season while also playing for Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey’s U18 A1 team.
Including the seven games played with the Steelers, Freer had played a total of 47 games in the PJHL with the rest spent with the Mission City Outlaws.
“Haldan is a hard-working, two-way forward who brings a strong compete level every time he steps on the ice. He’s responsible in all areas of the game, plays with an edge, and isn’t afraid to do the little things that help a team win,” said Steelers General Manager Craig Carter.
“We believe his work ethic, versatility and team-first approach will make him a valuable addition to our forward group,” he added.
The Burnaby Steelers would like to extend a warm welcome to Haldan as he officially joins his brother in Steeltown.
The Steelers open the 2026-2027 season in Langley on Saturday, September 19. The team plays their home opener on Sunday, September 20.
