The Burnaby Steelers are proud to announce the hiring of Kyle Johnson as the organization’s next Head Coach.

Johnson brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the game of hockey to the Steelers organization. His background includes an impressive playing career with the Prince George Spruce Kings in the BCHL, followed by four years competing at Yale University. He later continued his professional career overseas, spending two seasons playing professionally in France.

Throughout his career, Johnson has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, strategic understanding of the game, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the ice. His experience at the junior, collegiate, and professional levels will provide valuable insight and mentorship to Steelers players as the organization continues to build toward sustained success.

“From the moment we spoke with Kyle, it was clear he had the passion, leadership, and hockey knowledge we were looking for in our next head coach,” said General Manager Craig Carter. “Kyle is a smart young coach who connects well with players, demands accountability, and brings a vision that aligns perfectly with the direction of the organization. We’re excited to have him lead our bench and help build a strong culture moving forward.”

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to join the Burnaby Steelers,” said Johnson. “Thanks to Aldo Bruno, Mike and Sandy Moscone, and Enio Sacilotto. I’m keen to work with each of them, Craig Carter, and the rest of the team.

“Additionally, I’m grateful for the many people who have shaped how I plan to coach the team and supported me.

“As we look forward to the season, I’ll be aiming to lead a team that adds to the Steelers’ strong history.”

Johnson joins the Steelers at an exciting time as the organization continues to strengthen its culture centered around hard work, accountability, and development.

The Steelers organization would like to officially welcome Kyle and his family to Burnaby.
